Substituted equal parts honey and soy sauce to replace the volume of Kecap Manis. Tasty, but very wet once the chicken started cooking and releasing its juices. Did not achieve the level of carmelization in the photographs. Will try again if I come across Kecap Manis somewhere.

Simple recipe that tastes great. I added some honey into the marinade and next time would add some soy into the marinade also

it’s a great platform for other dishes. I’d up the sauce and temperature / cooking time to increase caramelisation but it’s a very solid dish for batch cooking.

I dunno but I followed this receipe exact and it was very bitter tasting. looked great, tasted bitter and almost bland. feel like the manis was missing a sweet serup or soy mix to it.
