Traditional foods with symbolic meanings are also enjoyed, such as dumplings for wealth, fish for abundance, glutinous rice cake for progress, longevity noodles for long life, sweet rice balls for unity, tangerines for luck, and Peking duck for prosperity. These foods embody cultural hopes for a prosperous and auspicious new year.
