Are you hungry for some hot and spicy footballing action? Are you also hungry for some top-notch burgers and excellent street food to pair with 90 minutes of men kicking a ball about? Great! Rules around watching live sports are finally starting to relax and while it’s unlikely you’ll be able to go and watch any of the England games of this year’s delayed Euros live in person, you can always pop down to your favourite pub or outdoor events space to catch a slice of the action.

Having some good grub to go with your pint is, however, non-negotiable in my books. When I can quite easily watch a game from my own sofa with access to my fridge, it’s going to take something truly special to make me leave the comfort of my own home to watch a game with strangers. That something special usually takes the form of jerk chicken or a perfectly cooked burger. Thankfully, there’s a range of options available for you to eat food and watch the Euros in London this summer. From beer gardens to busy pubs, these are the best places to get all hopeful about England’s chances before being inevitably disappointed by a string of drab performances. Here’s where to watch it come home between 11 June and 11 July 2021.

Exale Brewing

The Exale Taproom is a top spot to watch a bit of footy, sink a few fresh pints, and eat your body weight in margherita pizza. June and July will see Freewheelin’ Pizza take over the food offering at Exale while the big indoors screen provides you with an opportune spot to get all excited and hopeful about England’s chances in the Euros. Exale have even brewed a few special beers for the occasion. A lime and sea salt gose? We’ll drink to that.

The Faltering Fullback

The Faltering Fullback is an excellent pub to find yourself in once the big games of the Euros come about. The atmosphere is always lively at this north London pub even when live sport isn’t showing on the big screens, so rest assured that it’s going to have a raucous atmosphere once England’s fixtures roll around.

Perry Hill Pub

Perry Hill Pub is a nifty pub in Lewisham that doesn’t regularly show sports but they’re breaking that rule for this year’s Euros tournament. And in a big way. Owners Phil and Oonagh have installed two big screens in their extensive garden space as well as two screens inside of the pub in case the weather starts looking mardy. With the kitchen being overseen by Jamie Younger, who formerly ran The Palmerston in East Dulwich and still owns The Begging Bowl in Peckham, you can expect some top food to go with the footy, too. Head chef Eric Grapt (formerly of The Wolseley and The Hurlingham Club) has put together a menu that showcases British comfort food classics (think tender beef shin croquettes and cured salmon served with sturdy soda bread) and the on-site smokehouse. Shredded pork shoulder and a penalty shoot-out sounds good to us.

Vinegar Yard

Vinegar Yard has partnered with Adidas to bring you one of the biggest garden screens in London for you to watch this year’s belated Euros tournament. The Yard will be screening all matches, kicking off with the opening Turkey vs Italy match and going right through until the final, with table reservations now live. The sizeable outdoor venue will be taking table bookings for up to 8 people for every match, with seating and space for hundreds of fans laid out around that giant screen. Food-and-drink packages from Vinegar Yard’s various bars and food traders will be available exclusively for the England games. Tuck in.

Vauxhall Food & Beer Garden

The Vauxhall Food & Beer Garden will be screening every minute of every game throughout the Euros tournament this year. Which is good news if you’re the sort of person who really can’t afford to miss out on seeing Ukraine duke it out with North Macedonia on an absolutely massive screen. Packages for games range in price from £150 to £500 (I know) with a range of street food including French tacos and Wagyu burgers available to sate your appetite.

The Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh is home to south London’s biggest beer garden and stands out as a damn fine place to catch some Euros action this summer. With a range of local beers on tap and lovingly charred meat from the folks at White Men Can't Jerk, The Duke of Edinburgh is somewhere you can eat food and watch football in style. Make sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment though. This place is going to be busy. In a safe and socially distanced manner, of course.

Oval Space

This Euros fan park in Oval Space promises to be somewhere you can soak up a genuine sporting atmosphere this summer. Featuring live DJs, drinks of your choice, and a pie to eat during the game, there’s not much you’ll be wanting for on game day if you buy a ticket here, MOB. The large anti-glare screens will ensure you don’t miss a moment of the action and the world-class sound system will almost make it feel like you’re actually at the game. But not quite.
