Cult bakery and social enterprise The Dusty Knuckle has just opened up a second site on Green Lanes in Hackney. Dusty Knuckle was started back in 2014 by three friends Max, Rebecca and Daisy as a bakery, café and social enterprise with the mission of filling Londoners with high-quality loaves of bread and helping young offenders into employment and improving their prospects. They make this happen by offering training and employment for ex-offenders and young people at risk of entering the justice system and giving them the chance to work in a buzzing food operation.
As well as the usual rogue’s gallery of fresh bakes and dench sandwiches, the new restaurant in Harringay – sat between Manor House and Turnpike Lane – transforms into a candle-lit space at night serving traditional Italian snacks from crispy sage leaves and marinated anchovies to charred mackerel and tomato, pine nut and herb mayo alongside light and airy pizzas.
Seeing as they’ve just joined the area, we thought we’d reach out to the team at Dusty Knuckle to find out about their favourite spots in their new local area. Here are the top spots to visit on Green Lanes in Harringay according to Max Tobias (who himself has a background in youth and social work) of The Dusty Knuckle Bakery. Excluding, of course, their brand new bakery.
